Punjab is made up of two words Panj + Aab. Where Panj means number five and Aab is a Persian word which means water or river. The name of this region was named Punjab by the combination of these two words.According to some scholars, it is said that the name of Punjab is derived from the Sanskrit word Panchanad. Panchanad means the region of five rivers. The name of this region was Punjab due to the five rivers Jhelum, Ravi, Chenab, Sutlej, and Beas flowing in this region.Punjab, this is the land of Guru Nanak Dev, Guru Gobind Singh Ji, Maharaja Ranjit Singh who always made Punjab proud. This is the land of Lala-Lajpat Rai who fought for independence.For this he was hit by the sticks of the British and laid down his life for the country. This is the land of those martyr patriots who sacrificed their lives for the country in Jallian Wala Bagh.
